From desk job to driver’s seat – here’s what a Bank Holiday really looks like when you run a luxury chauffeur service
A year ago, Good Friday meant one thing: a well-deserved lie-in, a leisurely breakfast, long dog walks, maybe some DIY around the house. I was working a desk job where Bank Holidays were sacred – a chance to switch off and recharge.
Fast forward twelve months, and my Good Friday 2025 looked very different. But here’s the thing – I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Let me take you through 24 hours in the life of Elite Class Travel, and show you why leaving that desk job to be my own Boss was the best decision I ever made.
My alarm went off at 3:30am. While most of Essex was still fast asleep, I was preparing the Landjet for the day’s first journey.
By 4:30am, I was pulling up outside a family home in Tiptree – were heading to Stansted Airport for their Easter holiday.
“There’s nothing like a Landjet around here!” they told me as we set off. That’s the moment that makes the early starts worthwhile. We’ve brought something special to Essex, and our clients genuinely appreciate it.
There’s something really special about being part of the start of someone’s holiday – you’re literally the first step in their journey to making memories.
Back home by 9am, I sat down for a proper breakfast and 2nd strong coffee of the day. But the day was far from over.
One thing I’ve learned in this first year of business: your reputation is built on consistency. So even on a Bank Holiday, even after an early start, the Landjet gets its daily wash and detail.
Every client deserves to step into a pristine vehicle. It’s non-negotiable. That attention to detail is what sets Elite Class Travel apart from a standard taxi or ride-share service. We’re not just providing transport – we’re providing an experience.
The afternoon shift started at 4:30pm with a collection in Rayleigh. Four ladies, already buzzing with excitement, were heading to The O2 Arena for Garage Nation.
The energy in the Landjet was infectious. Bank Holiday weekends bring out a different vibe – people are ready to celebrate, to let loose, to make the most of their long weekend. Being part of that energy, helping people kick off their celebrations safely and in style, is genuinely rewarding.
A quick turnaround saw me back in Billericay by 7pm, this time collecting four ladies heading to NYX Brentwood for their night out. The laughter, the excitement, the group dynamic – these are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.
Every journey has its own story. These weren’t just trips from A to B; they were the start of memorable nights out, celebrations with friends, moments that would become stories told for years to come.
Here’s where I have to be honest – and my wife might be smiling as she reads this (she may even be the one typing it right now 😉).
Between jobs, I actually managed to take her out for dinner at Saints Japanese Restaurant in Brentwood. If you haven’t been, you absolutely must GO. The place is stunning, and the food is superb.
Running your own business is demanding. The hours are long, the Bank Holidays are busy, and sometimes the person who supports you the most gets overlooked. My wife does so much behind the scenes for Elite Class Travel – from admin to marketing to being my sounding board when things get challenging.
That dinner wasn’t just about the excellent food. It was a reminder that even in the busiest times, you have to make space for the people who matter most.
The night finished back at The O2 at 10.30pm for the return journey. Collecting happy (and probably tired) passengers and making sure everyone got home safely.
By the time I pulled into my own driveway just after midnight, every single client was home safe, their nights out had been stress-free, and I’d played a small part in making their Bank Holiday weekend special.
Building Elite Class Travel has been challenging, exhilarating, exhausting, and absolutely worth it. We’re nearly a year in now, and we’re driving growth every single day. Our client base is expanding, word-of-mouth referrals are coming in, and we’re building something real.
Bank Holidays used to be about switching off. Now they’re about switching on – being there when our clients need us most, when they’re celebrating, travelling, making memories.
The difference? Now I’m passionate about every single journey. Every satisfied client feels like a win. Every five-star review validates the risk I took in leaving that desk job.
Year two of Elite Class Travel starts now, and we’ve got big plans.
More vehicles. Expanded services. Continued commitment to the standards that have got us this far. We’re not just building a chauffeur service – we’re building a brand that Essex can be proud of.
So watch this space. The journey is just beginning.
This is Elite Class Travel. This is my life. 🖤
